ComicsPRO, the retailer trade association, brings its 12th Annual Meeting to Portland, Oregon on February 22 – 24, 2018 as well as its 14th Annual meeting on February 20 – 22, 2020. The venue for both year’s event is the Hilton Portland Downtown.
ComicsPRO has not yet chosen the date and the Venue for the 13th Annual Meeting in 2019.
"We're very happy to be returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2018 and 2020. Since the last time we visited, Portland has become an even bigger Comic Hub than it was before. Image, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and a satellite office of IDW have now joined Dark Horse and Oni in calling Portland their home,” said Peter Dolan, President of the Board of ComicsPRO. “Portland is also the home to a lot of amazing comic book creators. Our attendees will love interacting with them.”
The ComicsPRO Annual Meeting brings together comic book retailers and vendors to discuss major industry issues and to develop ways to improve the comic book specialty market. All comic book retailers with storefront locations are invited to attend. Every attending retailer will be presented with a gift bag including graphic novels, toys, promotional items and comics. Publishers will create exclusive comics for ComicsPRO, many with very low print runs. Registration for the annual meeting will start November 1st, 2017.
In 2018, ComicsPRO will also be holding a 1-day conference in the fall, somewhere on the East Coast. “We are hoping that this new fall conference, will be held every year, in a different part of the country than the annual meeting. It will be attached to a comic convention and be a very focused meeting – lots of nuts-and-bolts workshops” said Marco Davanzo, Executive Director of ComicsPRO. “We plan to visit places that we haven’t been able to before because of weather concerns including New England, Canada, Midwest.”
The ComicsPRO Annual Membership Meeting is the only annual retailer-driven event in the industry, often cited as the most important business-focused event of the year. ComicsPRO's current projects and plans will also be discussed.
