Friday's Headlines - JOHN WILLIAMS Leaving STAR WARS?

Well, long-time Star Wars composer John Williams has announced that 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX will be his last time with the franchise

“We know J.J. Abrams is preparing one [more Star Wars movie] now that I will hopefully do next year for him,” Williams said on KUSC's Evening Program. “I look forward it. It will round out a series of nine, that will be quite enough for me.”

If Williams sticks to this decision, it will be the end of a 42-year relationship which began in 1976 when writer/director George Lucas hired Williams to score Star Wars on the recommendation of Steven Spielberg. Williams scored all eight of the current Star Wars episodic films, while others such as Michael Giacchino and John Powell scored Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story - however basing it on Williams' foundational work.
