Thursday's Headlines | HBO Max News

Warner Media has launched a new film production arm titled Warner Max to produce original films for the upcoming HBO Max streaming service. Reported by several Hollywood trades, Warner Max is "expected" produce eight to 10 "mid-budget" films per year.

"We are going to deliver a collaborative and lean process for talent, make a range of quality films, and provide a platform for each of them to have cultural impact," said HBO Max's Chief Content Officer Kevin Reilly. "Now, HBO Max will be home to a robust collection of the legendary Warner Bros. film library and a new slate of original Warner Max films."

Variety's report classifies Warner Max as dedicated srictly to movies, and not the various TV shows announced for HBO Max - including Strange Adventures, the untitled Green Lantern, and DC Super Hero High.
Back in October, Variety reported that HBO Max would "likely" have their own DC Universe movies as well.
HBO Max is scheduled to launch this May.
