A statement from con organizers Leftfield Media on Tuesday indicates that the uncertainty of risk related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is to blame. This is one of the first fall (although technically late-summer) comic book events to be officially cancelled due coronavirus.
Here's the statement from Leftfield Media on Rose City Comic Con:
"We have been putting the health, safety and well being of our team, customers, partners, family and friends above all other priorities and those values remain most important to us. In light of both governmental direction and general public health advisories a face-to-face event is not possible at this time with the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the government issued State of Emergency in Oregon."
According to the statement, Leftfield Media's AwesomeCon remains scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. in December.
